In the late 1970's former drag racer, Gary Turner began to weld chromoly BMX race frames in his garage for his son. Soon a hobby turned into an obsession, and in 1979 Turner and engineer Richard Long combined forces to officially start GT Bicycles in Santa Ana, California (GT comes from Gary Turner). The company quickly became known for making premium BMX racing machines and it would pave the way for them to grow to industry leader status in the years to come.

The humble beginnings of the welding shop in the garage quickly led to GT dominating BMX racing. And as the sport of mountain biking emerged, GT also embraced these high-tech machines. With competition in its roots, GT introduced the Zaskar, a hardtail that earned legendary status at the races and is still in fabrication today. Boasting GT's triple-triangle design, the Zaskar took many of mountain biking's first champions to the podium and it continues to excel on and off the racecourse.
GT makes comfortable commuter bicycles, too!

Schwinn is the American icon that has built some of the best-known and most-loved bicycles of all time.  Started in October of 1895, Ignaz Schwinn revolutionized cycling in the early days!  Within only a few short years, the company became an acknowledged technical and quality leader of the bicycle industry. In fact, after just a year in business, Schwinn bikes had more race victories than any other bike company at the time.

Today, as Schwinn pedals into its second century, they continue to produce innovative, cutting-edge designs and technological marvels like their super-light carbon road bikes, their plush and smooth comfort bikes, their cruisers that resemble famous Schwinns of old except for all the modern features, and their terrain taming suspension mountain bikes.

With their continued dedication, America's most famous bicycle brand looks forward to another century of quality and dependability. To own a Schwinn, is to own a piece of history. We're proud to sell these living legends and have bikes for the entire family. Swing by Richards Bicycles today and start making history of your own on a new Schwinn!
