    Comments:

I really enjoy these tires. I transformed a completely stock 1997 Trek Multitrack 720 into a winter-eating machine just by adding studded tires and a removable rear fender. These tires are great when there's a little snow and ice, but they slow down anywhere the snow is compacted, thick, or deep. Then, you'd probably be happier on a fatbike. This said, these tires run circles around a fatbike on most winter terrain in urban areas. The next day after a big storm, I passed a group of four fatbikers without breaking a sweat, in pretty nasty iced pavement that had been plowed but not salted. So far I have 50 miles on the Gravdals and recommend them because they grip on just about anything and can also go faster on dry or icy pavement (no accumulation) than a fat bike. The idea is that you'll have more fun when you have the extra insurance of studs biting into every inch of pavement you ride. No need to worry about falling. The studs do slow you down a bit, but the traction is unreal.
