BSA is equivalent to English threading. English threading on road bikes mean a 68mm-wide, 34mm inside diameter shell with reverse threading on the drive side. It's the most common threaded standard employed today. This kit works with 24mm diameter cranks, such as Shimano, FSA, Rotor, and others. Choose between two bearings for the cups. Standard Bearings have low drag thanks to hardened-steel races and our Ceramic balls. Coated Bearings have those same balls installed on coated, hardened-steel races for longer life and less bearing drag. English threading is easy to work with, and 24mm spindles easily fit through the shell, allowing for large bearings to be employed in the outside cups. Put more of your energy into forward motion by reducing frictional drag wherever you can. CeramicSpeed Standard Bearings typically have frictional drag of 0.3-0.4 watts per set. That's in the range of a 75% drag reduction compared to standard bottom brackets. CeramicSpeed balls are 100% smoother and 15% harder than ceramic competition. The BB86 mountain bike standard was designed to integrate bearings into the bottom bracket for weight reduction. This kit works with the standard: it consists of two cups that are pressed into either side of the shell. There are two versions of this bottom bracket. Both come with CeramicSpeed Bearings installed into cups. The first is our long-life, low-drag Standard Bearing with hardened-steel races and our CeramicSpeed super-round, super hard balls. The cups mate with 24/22mm crank spindles. There are two bearing options. Both Standard and Coated Bearings feature super smooth CeramicSpeed Balls and hardened-steel races. The CeramicSpeed Coated Bearings have an additional feature: a 3-micron thick metallic layer over the races. This addition makes the races smoother and harder, lowering drag and increasing life.
